Paris 2024: hotel-planning lessons from the Games

A historical look at the 2024 Games, with practical lessons for matching hotel dates and journeys to an event itinerary.

The historical dates, not a current travel schedule

The City of Paris lists the Paris 2024 Olympic Games dates as July 26 to August 11, 2024, followed by the Paralympic Games from August 28 to September 8, 2024. These were separate event periods, not one continuous set of competition dates.

This guide looks back at those dates to draw hotel-planning lessons for future trips. It is not a report of hotel availability or a Hotelert customer success story. The official City of Paris record is linked below; the planning advice is our editorial interpretation.

Build the stay around the sessions you will attend

For a future event, begin with the official schedule and the sessions on your tickets. Record each date, venue and start time before searching for accommodation. A headline event date range is useful context, but it does not tell you which nights your own trip requires.

Add arrival and departure details, including overnight travel and the hotel’s check-in arrangements. Search with the actual check-in and check-out dates and everyone in your party. Avoid copying old event dates into a new hotel search.

Compare the whole journey from each hotel

Make a short list around the places you need to reach. Compare door-to-door journeys for each planned session, including the return after it ends. Use current official transport information and check access requirements with the organizer.

A central address or a short map distance alone does not prove that a hotel suits your itinerary. Compare the room total with expected transport costs, and confirm any accessibility requirements directly with the property and transport operator.

Keep room searches separate from confirmed bookings

For your next trip, Hotelert can help you search your dates and save an unavailable hotel when the alert option is offered. Email alerts depend on delivery being enabled. A saved alert does not hold a room, guarantee availability or promise a lower price.

Review any live offer on the booking provider: dates, guests, room type, full price and cancellation terms. If replacing an existing reservation, obtain confirmation of the new booking before canceling a stay you still need.
